Frequently Asked Questions
-
1. I have a toothache. What should I do?
-
2. I'm a new patient. What can I expect at my first visit?
At your first visit, you can expect to meet with a dental hygienist and our doctor. They will ask you questions about your dental history and your current dental care routine. X-rays will be taken to assess the health and structure of your teeth from front to back. Our team will check for gum disease, cavities or decay, oral cancer, and assess the overall health of your mouth. Based on these checks, we will make recommendations for treating any needs you may have.
-
3. What is a cavity?
A cavity is simply a small hole in the tooth that develops as a result of tooth decay. In other words, decay eats away at the tooth and results in a void space that disrupts the structure of the tooth. It’s important to get cavities repaired because they will continue to grow larger with time and become problematic.
-
4. Will my restoration last forever?
A common misconception is that dental restorations last forever, but unfortunately this is rarely true. With time, dental restorations may break down or become loose, allowing decay to enter the area around the restoration and become problematic. Although you can’t expect your restorations to last forever, you can do your part to make them last as long as possible. Maintain great oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly to keep them in optimal condition.

5. What is the best way to whiten my teeth?
The fastest and most effective way to whiten teeth is an in-office professional whitening procedure. However, there are other options available, ranging from take-home custom trays, whitening varnishes, and universal whitening trays. We have a variety of options available! Speak to with our dental team about your goals and we can develop a plan that is right for you.
